Most people don't label charity Christmas cards as such, which is why there are many more in existence then you probably realize. Charity Christmas cards have been circulating around the world for almost sixty years, and show no sign of decreasing their numbers. Charity Christmas cards work because they not only encourage the recipients to donate (much as the buyer did, simply by purchasing them), but they also draw awareness to the organization that is being advertised on the charity Christmas cards, which in turn can bring in more donations.
If there is a cause that you feel strongly about, you can support them in addition to donating money to them. See if they offer Christmas cards for charity, and buy a pack. You may spend a little more for the cards, but considering that you're doing a good deed that will hopefully encourage others to follow suit, it is well worth it.
